guasca /'gwaska/ del muyzca huazyca

es una hierba que como yo, proviene del sur de Abya Yala, le gustan los terrenos húmedos y crece en climas cálidos, templados y fríos. Es de color verde intenso y con buena tierra pueden crecer hasta casi mis caderas. Sus hojas de hasta cinco centímetros son de forma ovalada con bordes aserrados y son velluditas. Sus flores se agrupan, son pequeñas y su centro suele ser amarillo y con pétalos pequeños color blanco o amarillo. El fruto es negrito con minúsculas semillas.

En el altiplano muyzca, las hojas, tallos y flores de la guasca son el condimento fundamental del ajiaco, una sopa a base de diversas variedades de papa, arracacha, maíz, entre otros ingredientes.

Se bebe en infusión para tratar enfermedades del hígado.

Yo la cultivé una vez en mi balcón y desde entonces cada primavera crece sola y me acompaña hasta bien entrado el invierno. Regalo semillas y hojas que cosechó a mis amigues. Si sientes saudade de su presencia en tu vida no dudes en contactarme.

En muchos lugares del mundo es considerada maleza, amo su resiliencia. Abre los ojos te la puedes encontrar en lugares inesperados.

Andrea Ancira García, editor, writer, and researcher, explores the intersections of art and politics, focusing on translation’s role in shaping communal perspectives on life and memory. Co-creator of tumbalacasa ediciones, she investigates archives’ affective economies in generating alternative narratives. A fellow of Jumex Contemporary Art Foundation, she is a current PhD Candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

Dafne Moreno has been navigating the interstices of dance, music, choreography, storytelling, drawing, and performance in Vienna since 2010. She seeks to create spaces for migrant magical realism by evoking poetic images inspired by the Latin American imaginary. I'm so happy!Last year, thanks to the special invitation of @imaynacaceres to create this installation together, I had the opportunity to get to know @rotor.contemporary an amazing space with a caring group of people who organized the exhibition "For...... Dancing in the Street". Together with more than 40 artists and activists we shared different practices of mobilization, protest, resistance and the construction of other ways of inhabiting the world. Thanks to Margarethe Makovec, Anton Lederer, Iris Kasper, Christine Six for building a space of care and affection from which it was possible to take on all that outrages us with the joy that allows us to be together and share experiences through conversation, food, dance and collective work. Thanks to my friend Imayna, with whom we continue to build forms of re-existence through joy, dance, tenderness and laughter.

MOSKITOS, AT 2024, 4K, 16min.

Die Geister, die rituell beschworen werden, erweisen sich als tödliche Stechmücken. Schwirrende Lichtpunkte werden zu tanzenden Moskitos in tropischer Vegetation, die nicht mehr in Lateinamerika, sondern als animierte und antikolonialistische Intervention in der Wiener Stadtlandschaft wuchert.

Aedes and Anopheles sind Stechmücken, die gefährliche Infektionskrankheiten übertragen können: Chikungunya-Fieber, das Dengue- und das Zika-Virus. Es gibt keine ursächliche Therapie, die Sterblichkeit bei Gelbfieber ist nach wie vor hoch. Was also könnte geschehen, würden Moskitos sich im Wiener Weltmuseum, im Prater und in der Wirtschaftsuniversität ausbreiten? Susana Ojeda lässt in ihrem Kurzfilm ein geheimnisvolles Treffen einer Gruppe von Frauen stattfinden, die ein solches Szenario im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes heraufbeschwört. Worauf sich, als Ergebnis einer geflügelten Invasion, eine surreale Welt auftut. Die Geister, die rituell gerufen werden, erweisen sich als tödliche Stechmücken. Schwirrende Lichtpunkte werden zu tanzenden Moskitos in tropischer Vegetation, die nicht mehr in Lateinamerika, sondern als animierte und antikolonialistische Intervention in der Wiener Stadtlandschaft wuchert: eine menschenleere Welt, in der alle möglichen anderen Arten gedeihen. Die Geister, die rituell beschworen werden, erweisen sich als tödliche Stechmücken. Schwirrende Lichtpunkte werden zu tanzenden Moskitos in tropischer Vegetation, die nicht mehr in Lateinamerika, sondern als animierte und antikolonialistische Intervention in der Wiener Stadtlandschaft wuchert. Aedes and Anopheles sind Stechmücken, die gefährliche Infektionskrankheiten übertragen können: Chikungunya-Fieber, das Dengue- und das Zika-Virus. Es gibt keine ursächliche Therapie, die Sterblichkeit bei Gelbfieber ist nach wie vor hoch. Was also könnte geschehen, würden Moskitos sich im Wiener Weltmuseum, im Prater und in der Wirtschaftsuniversität ausbreiten? Susana Ojeda lässt in ihrem Kurzfilm ein geheimnisvolles Treffen einer Gruppe von Frauen stattfinden, die ein solches Szenario im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes heraufbeschwört. Worauf sich, als Ergebnis einer geflügelten Invasion, eine surreale Welt auftut. Die Geister, die rituell gerufen werden, erweisen sich als tödliche Stechmücken. Schwirrende Lichtpunkte werden zu tanzenden Moskitos in tropischer Vegetation, die nicht mehr in Lateinamerika, sondern als animierte und antikolonialistische Intervention in der Wiener Stadtlandschaft wuchert: eine menschenleere Welt, in der alle möglichen anderen Arten gedeihen.
